Elina Svitolina vs Maria Sakkari Preview and Prediction Grand Slam. Wimbledon Friday , 5 July , 2019

Wimbledon 2019 live streaming, tournament information, schedules and more
Sakkari wanted to go into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time in his career, having equaled the previous best record by reaching the third round. The only time he did the third in his three other visits was in 2017, when he defeated Czech pair Karolina Pliskova and Kristyna Pliskova before falling to Johann Konta's favorite home.

The 23-year-old made a third round without dropping a set, beating Bernarda Pera 7-6 6-3 in the first round, and Marie Bouzkova 6-4 6-1 in the second round.

Sakkari has a slow start to the year, with 3-6 in the hardcourt season. Two of the three wins came at the Australian Open, where he reached the third round, while there were four exits in the opening round.

However, his wealth is far better on clay, when he opened with a quarter-final in Charleston. He then claimed his first career title at Rabat, and contested the semi-finals in Rome. He will be very disappointed because he lost to Katerina Siniakova at Roland Garros, because he is in good condition.

Sakkari played three pre-Wimbledon warm-up tournaments on the grass, making the quarter-finals in Nottingham and the second round at Eastbourne, on both sides of the opening round exit in Birmingham. Not the most inspiring grass field number leading to Wimbledon, but on closer inspection, he faced some very strong players at the start of Osaka at Birmingham and Konta at Eastbourne.

He had started well at Wimbledon, and would try to defend it when he played Svitolina for the first in the third round.

This must be an interesting contest between the same two players who do not have the raw power to blow up others off the field, but rely more on athleticism and their ability to overcome the opponent's maneuver to win the match.

Sakkari is naturally more aggressive than the two contestants, and that could be a difference on Friday.
