Manchester United’s inconsistent season continued in midweek as they managed a 1-0 win over the struggling Manchester City to progress in the League Cup. This saw them bounce back from a humiliating 4-0 hammering at Chelsea at the weekend, and they will be hoping to use this derby day victory as a platform to build their revitalisation on.
The defeat to Chelsea ended a six match unbeaten streak in all competitions, four of which were victories. However, they remain in a very disappointing 7th position in the Premier League and are already six points off the leaders of the pack.

Burnley could struggle on Saturday. Their main attacking threat this season has been new signing Steven Defour, with the Belgian midfielder having one goal and three assists to his name. Unfortunately for Burnley he is expected to miss the tie with a hamstring injury, leaving Sam Vokes as the main attacking outlet with three Premier League goals. Just one of these has come away from home though, and they’re facing a Manchester United side who have only conceded five in their seven home games this term.
The visitors managed to get a very impressive 2-1 win over Everton last weekend to take them to 14th position in the Premier League, but in general they are struggling a bit in the top flight. Away from home they have lost all four of their competitive matches this season, scoring just one goal in the process. That was a very soft penalty when they were 3-0 down to Southampton as well.
Burnley have also conceded three goals in all three of their away days in the Premier League so far this season, whilst Manchester United have scored more than two in two of their last five at home. Considering they will be looking for a confidence boosting result here, backing Manchester United Over 2.5 Team Goals at 1/1 looks a good choice to me. I’m going for a 3-0 correct score prediction at 11/2.
