Corinthians vs Ponte Preta preview: Brasileiro Serie A at Saturday, 8th July 2017

Corinthians vs Ponte Preta
Brasileiro Serie A
Date: Saturday, 8th July 2017
Kick off at 23:00 UK/ 00:00 CET
Venue: Arena Corinthians.

The fans of Corinthians couldn’t be hoping for a better opening of the new season in Serie A. The squad from Sao Paulo has demonstrated great form and results in the last two months, deservedly sitting at the top of the table after dropping only four points from eleven duels.

Fabio Carille and his team will try to maintain the winning streak this weekend in front of home crowd. The opponent on the other side of the pitch is going to be Ponte Preta.
The visitors are currently sitting in the 11th place with 15 points, which is a solid start for a club of their standards. Poor efficiency and inability to win games on the road are the main reason why we don’t see them at the top. Ponte Preta’s strikers have netted only 11 goals so far.

Jo and Marquinho have been team leaders for Corinthians, always been dangerous in the box and directly winning a lot of points for the team. However, the main reason for the success achieved so far is the back line. Corinthians conceded only five goals, which is making them the best defense in the league.

The bookies have been slightly generous when it comes to the odds for this fixture in our opinion. Home win is priced at 1/2. Considering Ponte Preta don’t have one single win on the road, while the record for The Sailors in Sao Paulo is 5 – 1 – 0, this should be an easy home win!
Corinthians

Fabio Carille can be thrilled with the job he has done so far in the season since Timao is currently seven points clear ahead of Gremio at the very top of the standings.

The hosts have been especially impressive at the back having allowed no more than a single goal in last six league matches.

The last weekend has seen Corinthians picking up a narrow 1-0 win over Botafogo thanks to a goal from Jo who took his league tally to six goals.

Ponte Preta

Macaca has been playing hot and cold since the start of the season. The visitors are currently on a good streak as they kept clean sheets in back-to-back fixtures against Sol de America (Copa Sudamericana) and Avai (Serie A).

However, we are not quite optimistic about Ponte Preta’s chances against Corinthians as they have failed to find the back of the net in four straight games on the road.
Corinthians vs Ponte Preta: Head to head

Corinthians have been super dominant in the history of head to head meetings with Macaca.

The hosts lead the tH2H tie by ten wins and they claimed a demolishing 0-3 win from Estadio Moises Lucarelli to secure the Campeonato Paulista 1 title beating Ponte Preta 4-1 on aggregate in the final.
Corinthians vs Ponte Preta: Prediction

Everything points out to a home win, but we don’t expect to witness a gaols galore looking at the most recent results.

The value-seekers will thus fancy the 9/2 odds offered by the bookmakers on Corinthians to grab a 1-0 victory.
