formation predicted

Tottenham Gazzaniga; Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Winks, Sissoko, Ndombele, Alli; Moura, Kane
Watford Foster; Janmaat, Cathcart, Dawson, Kabasele, Holebas; Doucoure, Cleverley, Pereyra; Deulofeu, Welbeck

Head to Head

Tottenham held the upper hand in this fixture by a considerable margin, after winning 31 of 48 games before the two sides have played. Watford have won only eight times, and only once since the turn of the century.

However, visitors can take some confidence from the fact that their first win over the Spurs in the competition since 1994 came last season. Watford battled back from a goal down to win 2-1 through goals from Deeney and Craig Cathcart.

Spurs got their revenge later in the season though, producing their own comeback victory by Fernando Llorente scored vital goals in a 2-1 win.

PREDICTION

It will be a very interesting game to watch in terms of Tottenham's season. They not only have to win, but a dominant performance to boost confidence in the squad and in the stands. Pochettino team selection will inform us about how he was when he saw the players available to him. Dele Alli missed out on the England squad recently and looks a shadow of the player he was when he burst onto the scene, while Christian Eriksen has been poor. The home side should have enough to win, but show similar to the one in Brighton and there may be a surprise.
Watford 2-0 Tottenham
