Team news

Chelsea

Kante N'golo once again expected to be available but with Jorginho was suspended for the weekend match against Crystal Palace, Lampard can choose to keep the French on the bench and well rested.

Marcos Alonso is likely to replace Emerson, with Italy still to regain full fitness, but Lampard will surely look to name the strongest side he can in what is a vital group stage clash.

XI predicted: Arrizabalaga; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mountain, Pulisic; Abraham.

Ajax

double Quincy Promes' against Zwolle on Friday will probably see him start again to Erik ten Hag, who could name an unchanged side for the trip to Stamford Bridge without a significant injury concerns.

XI predicted: Onana; Mazraoui, Veltman, Blind, Tagliafico; Van de Beek, Martinez; Neres, Ziyech promissory notes; Tadic.

statistical

Chelsea and Ajax only previous European clash on matchday three of this season, with the Blues winning 1-0.

Ajax never lost a Champions League away match in England (W1 D3 L0), the most recent win away at Spurs in April 2019. Their last defeat away European Cup on English soil was in April 1980, a 2-0 semifinal defeat against a team of Nottingham Forest Brian Clough.

Chelsea have a 100 percent record-win in the UEFA Champions League match against Dutch opponents, defeating Feyenoord twice in the 1999/2000 season and Ajax in this season MD3.

Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has managed more Champions League away matches without loss than other managers (seven games), winning five and drawing two. Only two managers have lost none of their first eight away games in the competition - Louis van Gaal (14 the first game) and Pep Guardiola (first 11 games).

Michy Batshuayi Chelsea striker has scored a goal every 47 minutes for the Blues in the Champions League (three goals in 141 minutes) - the best minutes per ratio goal of any Chelsea player in the competition.

Dusan Tadic has been directly involved in eight of the last 14 goals scored Ajax in the Champions League group stage (five goals, three assists), including six of the (three goals, three assists) and seven away from their homes.

Predicton

We've seen a lot of what has been done recently Ajax. They sell three or four key people in the summer and it makes them weak, but it does not change their style or philosophy of the manager. Chelsea win no sensational result, but there is not much between the two sides.

I still feel there are a few hiccups along the way. You can not bully Ajax with the ball, but you can do without it. Chelsea will want to gain a technical edge over Ajax so we had a great game in prospect here. You can still see weaknesses in both teams, but it will be another fantastic result for Frank Lampard.

 predicts: 2-1
