Cameroon vs Ghana
Africa Cup of Nations
Date: Saturday, 29 June 2019
Kick off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Ismaïlia Stadium (Ismaïlia).

Ghana will look for their first win at the African Nations Cup this year when they face Cameroon holders this weekend in one of the highest ties in the group phase.

The Black Stars have reached at least the top four in each of the last six editions of the tournament, but they opened their campaign last week with an inconclusive 2-2 draw against Benin.

James Appiah's side will be looking for three important points this weekend but also revenge against the Cameroon team who put them out of 2017 in the semi-finals.

Team News

Cameroon

Clarence Seedorf is expected to start the same team against Ghana after they beat Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in their first match.
However, he will need the Choupo-Moting captain to be clinical in front of goal.

Ghana

Ghana manager Kwesi Appiah will make changes to the team because John Boye and Thomas Agyepong have been ruled out due to suspension and injury.
Captain Andre Ayew is doubtful after a knock in the 2-2 draw against Benin.
If Andre fails to recover, Kwadwo Asamoah from Inter Milan will start.

Prediction of Cameroon vs Ghana

Both teams scored in the second half, and they were satisfied with the draw which did not help Ghana.

Choose: Cameroon 1, Ghana 1

Mauritania Form & Team News

Mauritania suffered a 4-1 defeat to Mali in their opening match in 2019 AFCON. Moctar El Hacen El Ide got a disappointing entertainment goal.

Lions of Chinguetti made their first appearance at AFCON and struggled to make a real impact in their defeat to Mali. They have lost three of the four matches they have played this year and were priced at 3.20 to claim victory against Angola while the draw ended at 3.00.

Attackers Ismail Diakite and Adama Ba have struggled with the national team this year and face a daunting task. The influential Moctar El Hacen El Idea is expected to start in the front two behind after a net of consolation against Mali.

Angola Form & Team News

Angola took a cruel point in their opening group match. The Palancas Negras held off Tunisia with a 1-1 draw with Djalma leveling in the 73rd minute.

Angola have won six of their last nine matches in all competitions and have looked good in preparation until AFCON. They are expected to win at good value 2.40 giving their impressive performance against Tunisia and their pace in the final third.

Striker Mateus Galiano is expected to lead a fast forward with Djalma and Wilson Eduardo when the Angolan people look to claim their first win in the group stage.
Mauritania vs Angola Head to Head

Mauritania and Angola have faced each other twice with both matches coming in qualifying for AFCON 2019. Both teams won their home matches with Angola winning 4-1 and Mauritania 1-0.

Mauritania vs Angola match

Mauritania have conceded seven goals in their last two matches and have tended to struggle to overcome the pace of Djalma and Wilson Eduardo in the Angolan attack.

Angolan people show resilience to Tunisia and are a difficult team to break down. Mauritania are expected to stay with two strikers at Ismail Diakite and Adama Ba and that could make them a little in the midfield where they can be defeated by Angola's superior quality.

Mauritania vs Angola Key Statistics

Angola have won 6 of their last 9 matches (all competitions).
Angola won 4 of their 6 matches at the AFCON Qualification.
Mauritania have lost 3 of their last 4 matches (all competitions).

Form Ghana & Team News

The Black Stars finished top of their Africa Cup qualifying group ahead of Kenya, Ethiopia and disqualified Sierra Leone. Ghana have made the semi-finals in their last six African Cup tournaments and may extend the record under James Kwesi Appiah.

Ghanaian forces contain important figures including Andre and Jordan Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and Thomas Partey. The majority of the 2019 plants on the Black Stars are based overseas and many players are recognized throughout the world of football.

Partey is the choice at any time the scorer market that has been in clinical form for Ghana while Gyan is their all-time top scorer. The Black Stars drew 0-0 with South Africa in a warm-up match but won the previous two matches against Ethiopia and Kenya.

None of this guarantees victory but the experience of the big Ghana tournament means a lot. I tip the Appiah team on the market who won for what I feel is good value against a team that is lower at 1.70.

Form Benin & Team News

Benin qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations by occupying second place in a group containing Algeria, Gambia and Togo. This is the first African Cup since 2010 for Squirrels and they have never made it past the group stages.

Coach Michel Dussuyer has a squad full of European-based players like his colleague Appiah. But there are no players from the club of Atletico Madrid or Inter Milan caliber.

Stephane Sessegnon is a Benin legend and scored in a 1-0 friendly win over Guinea while Steve Mounie is another player to watch at the scorers market at any time.

Benin have won three consecutive matches but it would be a mistake to take their form against a lower team as a sign of what will happen against Ghana. Upset is always possible even though with squirrels paying 5.75 to win and 3.50 to draw.

Tips for Ghana vs Benin betting

Will this be the year Ghana ends their waiting for glory? They have not won the African Cup since their fourth success in 1982. They have been very successful all the time in this competition, but they are almost always men on many occasions. They have reached the semifinals in the last six tournaments since 2008 when they hosted. The last two defeats, finished in third place and three finished in fourth place have been followed. Can Ghana turn things around in 2019?

The head of Ghana headed for Egypt full of hope. Their own record makes them become competitors to reach the final stage, while they have talented players who can make a difference. The Ayew brothers still have a big influence on the side, while Thomas Partey in midfield is a high-ranked box to box player. Many of their stars reached their peak, with Christian Atsu, Ayews and Jonathan Mensah all reaching their late 20s. Will the combination of experience and talent bring them fully?

Meanwhile, Benin has made this tournament despite facing Algeria and Togo in qualifying. However, they booked their place with three home wins, while they took one point on the road and only scored one goal. Benin is not the biggest side in the tournament, while they are clearly a team that can struggle to adapt to playing in Egypt. They warmed up with back to back friendship wins, while no names jumped out of their troops.

Ghana is a worthy favorite to win this match, because they formed to be the party to watch in the tournament. While the problems surrounding Asamoah Gyan's attitude could hit them, it was a pleasant camp at this early stage. They made it through their group by winning to zero in all but one of their games, while they have kept three clean sheets straight into this match.
We see Benin struggling to adapt here, especially considering their record in this tournament. They qualified on the previous three occasions for the 16-team tournament - ranked 16th, 15th and 14th overall in terms of their results. Benin have lost eight of their nine matches in this competition in the past, so we see value in supporting perpetual competitors to claim victory.

Ghana vs Benin Head to head (h2h)

Benin and Ghana have met each other on six occasions.
The Black Stars have succumbed to defeat on only one occasion, the match ended 1-0 for the benefit of Benin.
Ghana have managed to win with four goals or more in two examples.
Their last meeting, namely in 2017, ended in a 1-1 draw.

Cameroon Form & Team News

The Indomitable Lions have been in good form recently, netting 17 goals in their last four matches including 11 against Alcorcon without an answer. Clarence Seedorf's side drew 1-1 against Mali in their last match but won the previous three matches.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is a name that doesn't need to be introduced to most soccer fans and he pays 2.60 at the scorer market at any time. This Paris Saint-Germain man tends to shine when starring in Cameroon and scoring important goals during qualifying.

Even with people like Joel Matip and Nicolas Nkoulou not there, the depth of Cameroon shone. There was good value in Cameroon's win against opponents who were clearly lower at 1.60.

Guinea-Bissau Form & Team News

Guinea-Bissau suffered their eighth defeat in 13 matches when they lost 2-0 to Angola. The ideal preparation for the second African Cup ever held by Djurtus.

The 2017 tournament makes Guinea-Bissau eliminated in the group stage and it will take monumental efforts for Baciro Cande's team to go further this year. There are no real stars in the Guinea-Bissau line even though Toni Silva can cause problems for defenders in his day and Zezinho Djafal is a talented midfielder.

Djurtus will not lose and with history stacked against them, Guinea-Bissau pays a huge opportunity of 6.50 to win while the draw can be supported at 3.60.
Cameroon vs Guinea-Bissau Head to head (h2h)

Both teams have met each other on three occasions.
Guinea Bissau has yet to register a single victory against their counterpart.
Their last meeting ended 2-1 for Cameroon.
Guinea Bissau has scored just one goal while conceding four at the previous meeting.

Prediction of Cameroon vs Guinea Bissau

Baciro Cande's side are likely to be given their first defeat of their campaign when they face five-time champions Cameroon in the African Cup first round at the Ismailia Stadium on Tuesday.

Djurtus could not pass the group stage in the final edition of the tournament, and with their current appearance, they could see a poor final result.

The time period for player Clarence Seedorf was decent, with two wins and a draw in their last three matches. Their last match against Mali made them equalize after becoming a goal, but could not continue and reach a clear determinant at the end of ninety minutes.

However, the match on Tuesday is likely to benefit them before the two teams go into the break. We can bet they will keep the clean sheet at the end of ninety minutes too.

Cameroon vs Guinea-Bissau betting tips

Guinea-Bissau will concede in the first round @ 1.80
Cameroon wins until nil @ 2.37.
