Trinidad and Tobago vs Guyana

CONCACAF Gold Cup

Trinidad and Tobago

After opening the tournament with a 2-0 defeat to Panama, Trinidad and Tobago fell to the US, 6-0 on Saturday night in Cleveland. It was Trinidad's seventh consecutive match failed to score in defeat, even though they had a better game in the opening 30 minutes. It was rather unfortunate to enter the second half with a goal when Aaron Long scored his first international goal, the Soca Warriors conceded five goals in the last 24 minutes, which did not match head coach Dennis Lawrence.

"How can a team be so good during the first 65 minutes, and it's been terrible for the last 25 minutes," Lawrence said. "After a match like tonight, you will see changes to the next match."
Guyana
It was the second historic Gold Cup match for Guyana debutants despite being knocked out in a 4-2 defeat to Panama on Saturday night in Cleveland.

Neil Danns scored the first Jaguar Gold Cup goal, a penalty which equalized in the 33rd minute after Abdiel Arroyo put Panama ahead after 16 minutes. Following an own goal against Terence Vancooten in the 40th minute, Los Canaleros scored two more goals, Eric Davis's penalty in the 51st minute followed by Gabriel Torres's kick four minutes from full time. Danns closed the score at night with his second goal from the penalty spot in the second half ending.

"I can tell you that our team will change dramatically for our last match," said Guyana coach Michael Johnson. "So there are still a number of opportunities to come, and that is what tournaments like this bring, opportunities for players to really put themselves on the global map."

Trinidad & Tobago vs Guyana Head to Head

Trinidad & Tobago has a 6-1 advantage over Guyana with three draws. Three of the last six meetings have ended in a 1-1 draw, the last being an international friendly match at 2017 at Ato Boldon Stadium in San Fernando with Sheldon Holder opening for Guyana canceled by Shahdon Winchester's goal.

Match Trinidad & Tobago vs Guyana

Trinidad & Tobago was challenged in the attacking department for failing to score in eight of their last nine matches in all competitions. That makes me skeptical about betting on Soca Warriors here.

Guyana has strength in midfield with Sam Cox, Brandon Beresford and Neil Danns. Wingers Callum Harriott and Terell Ondaan also have the ability to cause problems with Trinidad & Tobago.

Main Statistics of Trinidad & Tobago vs Guyana

Trinidad & Tobago have lost 5 of their last 6 matches (all competitions).
Trinidad & Tobago failed to score in 8 of their last 9 matches (all competitions).
Guyana has lost their last 4 matches in all competitions.

Honduras Form & Team News

Honduras fought bravely in the opening match of their Gold Cup but lost 3-2 against Jamaica at Independence Park. Antony Lozano reduced the deficit to 2-1 and Rubilio Castillo scored the final consolation goal.

Los Catrachos then faced Curacao and somehow lost 1-0 at the Kompas BBVA Stadium. Honduras controlled the match with 63% ownership, had 24 shots with 13 on target and hit the post twice.

Manager Fabián Coito made two changes to his team including midfielder Héctor Castellanos who paved the way for Jorge vlvarez and striker Romell Quioto was replaced by Michaell Chirinos. Bryan Acosta has dropped off the bench twice and is an option to start with Rubilio Castillo.

Honduras has nothing to play but pride because they cannot reach the quarter-finals. Honduras is an outsider against Jamaica at 3.10, the odds are interesting while the draw can be supported at 3.20 and Honduras in the market a double chance to pay 1.57.

El Salvador Form & Team News

El Salvador almost reached their sixth Gold Cup quarter-final after a win and a draw in 2019. La Selecta was the better team against Curacao and won 1-0 thanks to Nelson Bonilla.

The 0-0 draw against Jamaica at the BBVA Kompas Stadium was followed by opportunities few and far between the two. El Salvador was under heavy pressure in the closing stages but held on for important points.

Manager Carlos de los Cobos made a change with winger Jaime Alás replaced by Juan Carlos Portillo. Playmaker Andrés Flores was connected in the first half against Jamaica in a tactical change that gave Gerson Mayé more stability.

Marvin Monterroza had come off the bench in both matches but de los Cobos could not have made many changes here. El Salvador based their game on solid defenses highlighted by keeping five clean sheets in their last six matches.

El Salvador can be supported to defeat Honduras at 2.50 with a pay draw of 3.20. Curacao is unlikely to beat Jamaica, so a draw is likely to be enough to reach the quarter-finals while defeat can also ensure progress.

Honduras vs El Salvador Head to Head

Honduras have a better record against El Salvador with a superiority of 26-14 and nine draws. However, El Salvador won the final match 1-0, a friendly match in June 2018 with Denis Pineda heading towards the winning goal.

Honduras vs El Salvador match

Honduras has a disappointing Gold Cup and will go home early. Manager Fabián Coito can make changes here to give out players who are younger and more experienced.

El Salvador has a number of players in their starting XI who trade for the Alianza Fútbol Club. They also have strength in key positions such as defensive midfielder Darwin Cerén, attacking midfielder Andrés Flores and striker Nelson Bonilla.

Last match on the land of Honduras: 03.06.2018 Honduras - El Salvador 0: 1; Denis Pineda 19 '

Worth mentioning: The two countries met last year in a friendly match and El Salvador won a win thanks to Denis Pineda's goal in the first round. Three of the five previous clashes between Honduras and El Salvador produced more than 2.5 goals because three saw both sides hit the back of the net. Only six of the last twenty matches between the two national teams produced more than 2.5 goals and six goals watched at both ends

PREDICTION

El Salvador has a tremendous opportunity to qualify for the quarter-finals at the Gold Cup for the fourth time since 2011. Even though they need one point to ensure, they can really pass the defeat if Jamaica beat Curacao. Honduras has a tournament that must be forgotten because successive defeats mean they are playing just for pride and it is difficult to know how motivated the players are in this match. This might not be a good match but El Salvador won't mind when they advance to the quarter-finals after a low-scoring meeting where the predicted results are a draw.

Form Jamaica & Team News

Jamaica are in a good position to reach the quarter-finals after winning and a draw at the Gold Cup. A 3-2 win at Independence Park against Honduras is more comfortable than the score shown.

Dever Orgill scored twice before the first half and Damion Lowe made it 3-1 before Honduras scored in the 92nd minute. Reggae Boyz then came out with a 0-0 draw against El Salvador in a difficult match despite finishing the match strongly.

Manager Theodore Whitmore made two changes to this starting XI with Michael Hector paving the way for Andre Lewis and Junior Flemmings to replace Peter-Lee Vassell. Vassell registered two assists against Honduras and could start against Curacao.

Right-back Alvas Powell is in good condition and his tantrums go forward completing the attack featuring star player Leon Bailey. Striker Brian Brown was under pressure from Darren Mattocks and Shamar Nicholson.

Jamaica has had a strong record recently in the tournament after finishing as runners-up in 2015 and 2017. Reggae Boyz can be supported to beat Curacao at 1.62 with -1 handicap paying 2.80.

Curacao Form & Team News

Curacao fell to a 1-0 defeat against El Salvador at the opening of their Gold Cup in Independence Park where they only recorded one shot on goal. It was their fourth straight defeat in the Gold Cup without scoring.

The Remko Bicentini side bounced back with a lucky 1-0 win against Honduras at the Kompas BBVA Stadium. Curacao was under the pump in the first half but scored through Leandro Bacuna in the 40th minute and held on for a historic victory.

Curacao only has 37% ownership, on the wrong side of the number of shots (24-5) and shots on the target number 13-4. Honduras hit the post twice with the Curacao goalkeeper Eloy Room making 13 saves.

Left back Jurich Carolina was replaced by Ayrton Statie and defensive midfielder Shermaine Martina got off the bench against Honduras. Striker Charlison Benschop lost his initial place to Jafar Arias, Jarchinio winger Antonia played the full 90 minutes against Honduras and could start against Jamaica.

Curacao is an outsider against Jamaica and can be supported at 6.50 to make angry wins. A draw can be enough to reach the quarter-finals if El Salvador lose to Honduras, the result of which is currently paying 3.80.

Key Statistics of Jamaica vs. Curacao

Jamaica have kept 2 clean sheets in their last 3 matches in all competitions.
Jamaica won their last match against Curacao 2-0 (2017 Gold Cup)
Jamaican troops are worth € 52 million.
The Curacao forces are worth € 11 million.
Curacao has lost 4 of their last 5 matches at the Gold Cup.
Curacao lost 2-0 in 3 of their 4 defeats at the Gold Cup.
Curacao failed to score in 4 of their last 5 matches (Gold Cup).

Tips for Jamaica vs. Curacao Bets

After winning one and drawing one, collecting four points in the process, Jamaica are in the leading position to advance from Group C. One point against Curacao will ensure that they can pass. One point might also be enough for Curacao, who disappointed Honduras last time, even though their fate will depend on what El Salvador did to opponents who were already eliminated.

After they gave their first pleasant appearance, Jamaican fans might expect more from their team in the two-day match, although Reggae Boyz couldn't break against El Salvador, who stood firmly behind. They got a little defensive pressure, only conceding a shot on goal and the expected 0.19 goals, although they also offered a little advance, because they only recorded the expected 0.45 goals. To win this game, Jamaica needed to reproduce the type of attacking display that saw them score three goals and send 1.9 goals expected for a one-day match.

As for Curacao, well, the minnows have already exceeded expectations at this tournament. If they were to stand any chance of progressing, it looked as though Remko Bicentini’s men would need to beat El Salvador on match-day one, so when they lost, their chances of reaching the knockout rounds became very slim. However, despite going into the game as big as 8/1 in places, Curacao managed to beat Honduras last time out. Such a result has not only given them a chance of progressing, but it will also have allowed confidence levels to rise.

As for Curacao, well, small fish has exceeded expectations in this tournament. If they have the chance to advance, it seems that the Remko Bicentini forces need to defeat El Salvador on the day of the match, so when they lose, their chances of reaching the knockout stage are very slim. However, despite going into the game at 8/1 on the spot, Curacao managed to beat Honduras last time. Such results not only give them a chance to advance, but also allow the level of trust to increase.

Curacao must be applauded for their efforts on match-day two, they put themselves on the line, took their chances when it came and then clung on for dear life. That said, we can’t ignore the fact that they were fortunate, as they posted only 0.85 expected goals for and conceded 2.8. Not only did they ship 2.8 expected goals for, but they conceded 29 shots, 11 of which hit the target. Quite simply, if that game was replayed, Honduras would almost certainly win with something in hand, so we shouldn’t get too carried away with the result.

In the betting, despite not being great on match-day two, Jamaica are tough to oppose. Specifically, ‘Jamaica to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’ stands out. With the hosts having delivered 1.9 expected goals against Honduras, they look a good price to score twice on route to victory against a limited Curacao side that has surrendered an average of 1.77 expected goals and that boast an average expected goal difference of -1.17 at this tournament.

Head to Head

This will be just the third renewal of this fixture. Back in 2017, Curacao won by two goals to one, while Jamaica won 2-0 later that same year.

TEAM NEWS

United States of America

The United States has a comfortable opening win against Guyana with the host country 4-0 win against the lowest ranked team in the tournament.
Two goals from Tyler Boyd along with each goal from Paul Arriola and Gyasi Zardes ensured victory because the US dominated possession, creating many chances and they might win more.
This is the first time they have met since defeat in Trinidad ended US hopes of qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup,

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Trinidad and Tobago faced a daunting task to qualify after losing 2-0 to Panama in their opening match, and they must take at least one point from this match to realistically maintain their hopes of reaching the quarter-finals.
They rarely threaten to score against Panama which further highlights their struggles in front of the goal that came to the tournament and they haven't scored since last September.
They may make one or two changes from the match against Panama but will likely remain in a 4-5-1 formation, with the game plan keeping it tight in the hope of grabbing a goal at the counter or from the set.

United States vs Trinidad and Tobago Head to head (h2h)

Of the twenty-one meetings of the team, Trinidad and Tobago only managed to rise twice.
Their last meeting ended 2-1 for Trinidad and Tobago.
The US has kept clean sheets in four of their last five clashes.
The highest scoring game between the two sides ended 4-0 for America.

Predictions of the United States and Trinidad and Tobago

The home side will almost certainly retreat with a backward victory when they lock horns with Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday.

Gregg Berhalter's troops showed that they were serious when they came out on top in the previous opening match. His troops will try to extend their positive start and it is impossible to let the game escape from under their noses.

Their colleagues were winless in one of their last five matches. They also struggled to get their names on the score sheet in each of those matches too. Stephen Hart's side is looking at the final solution if they fail to immediately act together.

The match on Sunday clearly swung the win for the hosts, who are likely to leave with a clean sheet too.
